Archery: Compound Women’s Team Final Underway
India’s Compound women’s team have won the first set 59-57 against Korea in their final match.
The Indian women have bettered their last edition’s performance – a bronze at Incheon – by entering the summit clash of the compound team.
Table Tennis: Men’s Team Semi-final Underway
Indian are playing Republic of Korea in the semi-final of the men’s Table Tennis team event.
Courtesy of being in the semis, India have assured themselves of the country’s first-ever medal in table tennis in the history of the Asian Games.

Deborah and Sonali Chanu fail to qualify for Round 2 of the Women’s Keirin event. Both Indian cyclists finished fourth in their respective heats of the repechage round.
Athletics: Swapna Leading in Women’s Heptathlon Event
Swapna Barman and Purnima Hembram are currently competing in the Women’s Heptathlon event, which includes 100m, High Jump, Shot Put, 200m, Long Jump, Javelin Throw and 800m.
With a taped chin, Swapna has been super impressive in the high jump event, clearing all 1.73, 1.76, 1.79 and 1.82 on her first attempts! She is currently in the lead, while Purnima sits in fifth place.
Squash: Women’s Team Register 2nd Win
India has defeated Thailand 3-0 to register their second straight win in Pool B of the women’s Squash team event.
In their campaign opener yesterday, the team of Tanvi Khanna, Joshana Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal, and Sunayna Kuruvilla had defeated Iran 3-0.
They will be playing Indonesia at 5:00 pm IST later today.
Cycling: Deborah, Sonali in Repechage Round
Cyclists Deborah and Sonali Chanu moved to the repechage round of the Women’s Keirin after finishing fourth and fifth in their respective Heats.
In the women’s team pursuit, India clock a time of India 5:07.863 in Heat 1, and fail to qualify for the Finals.
Athletics: Dutee, Hima in 200m Semis
Dutee Chand and Hima Das qualify for the semi-finals of the women’s 200m event! Both athletes, who’ve already bagged silvers in this Asian Games, finished just 0.10 seconds apart in the heats.
Dutee finished first in Heat 4, and second overall with a timing of 23.37.
Hima Das finished fourth in Heat 1, but stands 7th out of the 16 athletes moving to the next round of the event.
The semi-final is scheduled to start at 5:20 pm IST.

Dutee Chand on top! The Indian sprinter clocks a timing of 23.37 to finish first in Heat 4 of the Women’s 200m event. She has qualified for the semi-finals.
Athletics: Hima Finishes 4th in Heat
Hima Das finishes fourth in her heat of the women’s 200m event.
It’s not over for Hima, just yet. She really caught up in the last 100 meters and finished with a time of 23.47. While just the top 3 runners from each heat make it through, there’s always an opening for the ‘fastest loser’ and in this case it may be Hima who finished fourth in her heat with a time that was still better than what the winner of Heat 1 clocked.
Athletics: Hima Das, Dutee Chand to Compete in Women’s 200m
Big event this morning! Hima Das and Dutee Chand will be competing in the qualification round of the 200m sprint at 8:15am IST.
Both athletes have already won a silver each in this Asian Games.
Dutee finished second in the women’s 100m event to win the country’s first medal in 20 years in this event. Sprinter Das, who became the U20 World Champion earlier this year, also clinched a silver in the women’s 400m. She clocked 50.79s to break her own national record.
Day 9 Ends With 40 Medals
A big day for India in athletics as India end Monday in Indonesia with 40 medals – 8 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze.

Archery, Women’s Badminton and Mixed Relay Hopeful for Gold on 10th Day
On the tenth day of the 18th Asian Games, the Indian men’s and women’s compound archery teams will both be in action. They will fight Korean teams in the final for a gold.
Apart from archery, the Indian mixed 4x400m relay team are also favourites for a gold in the evening session.
The big match of the day though will be when Indian badminton ace PV Sindhu plays world number one Tai Tzu Ying in the women’s singles gold medal match.
We will also see Indian athletes take part in Boxing, Equestrian, Hockey and Squash.
