David De Gea was simply stunning in the second half as Manchester United continued their stellar run in the Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur. The Spaniard made some extraordinary saves in the final 45 minutes of the game to leave fans and players spellbound with his impeccable goal guarding prowess.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continued his perfect start as the caretaker manager of the Red Devils as he recorded a sixth straight win across competitions to script history. Against Spurs, United were expected to face their first real test of the Solskjaer reign and they flourished in flying colours clinching all three points at the Wembley.
Marcus Rashford fired home with a sublime finish after Paul Pogba picked him with a brilliant pass. United ended the first half leading 1-0 but Spurs pressed higher in the second half and had more chances. However, whatever came De Gea’s way was brilliantly blocked by the ‘superhuman’ United keeper, who had an amazing day between the sticks.
De Gea’s stunning display saw him earn praise from fans across the world including veteran Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who was left in awe of the Spaniard after watching him make a stunning eleven saves in the game.
“How good is he ? @D_DeGea unbelievable goal keeping ! Go @ManUtd,” tweeted Yuvraj, who is a huge Manchester United fan himself.
United’s defence was tested by Spurs in the second half but De Gea ensured the Red Devils took all three points home from Wembley. The victory meant Solskjaer became the first-ever United manager to win his first six games in charge. Manchester United are placed sixth in the Premier League table levelled on points with Arsenal with 41 points from 22 games.
Meanwhile, Yuvraj on the personal front is plying his trade for Punjab in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
