    According to Ram Vilas Paswan, 75 crore people entitled to cheap food grains will be allowed to carry six months ration together. Right now, they are allowed to take at least two months’ grain ahead of time.

    Ram Vilas Paswan told the news agency PTI, ‘There is enough stock of food grains in our godowns. We have asked all the State Governments and Union Territories to allow poor people to lift the quota of six months of food grains together.

    Paswan said that this decision has been taken in the midst of Corona virus infection so that poor people will not have difficulty in getting food grains if any further restrictions are implemented. Please tell here that only the Punjab government has given permission to lift the quota of six months at once.

    According to Paswan, at present, 35.5 million tonnes of food grains are lying in government warehouses, which is more than the requirement of safe buffer stock.

    Out of this, there is 272.19 lakh tonnes of rice and 162.79 lakh tonnes of wheat. In April, 135 lakh tonnes of rice and 74.2 lakh tonnes of wheat in buffer are considered safe for PDS i.e. PDS.
