Air India flight Cut: Tata Group-owned Air India on Thursday said it will cut 38 international flights every week between June 21 and July 15, 2025. The move comes in the wake of disruptions following the recent plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12.
Services on three international routes will remain suspended
Air India also said that flights on three foreign routes, Delhi-Nairobi (4 flights per week), Amritsar-London (Gatwick) (3 flights per week), and Goa (Mopa)-London (Gatwick) (3 flights per week), will remain completely suspended till July 15.
Flights cut on 18 international routes
Air India will reduce the number of flights on a total of 18 international routes in North America, Europe, Australia and the Far East. These include major North American routes, Delhi-Toronto, Delhi-Vancouver, Delhi-San Francisco, Delhi-Chicago, Delhi-Washington.
Flight safety and air route changes became the reason
According to the company, this reduction is voluntary and its purpose is:- to accommodate the increase in pre-flight security checks, to take into account the increase in flight time due to closed airspace in West Asia, to restore schedule stability and to avoid last minute inconvenience to passengers.
Temporary decision, applicable till July 15
Air India said that this reduction will be effective from June 21 and will remain in force till at least July 15, 2025. Earlier, the company had said that it would temporarily reduce the flights of large aircraft by 15%, and now this detailed plan has come out under it. (With agency input)
