DA Hike: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex body of the Sikh religion, has made a major announcement for its employees. The organization has decided to increase the dearness allowance (DA) by 4 percent. This increase will take effect on April 1. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami made the announcement during a religious event in Amritsar. This decision is expected to provide some relief to SGPC employees in times of inflation.

The announcement was made during a religious gathering held at Gurudwara Shri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in Amritsar. The Akhand Path Sahib Bhog was offered to mark the arrival of the new Nanakshahi Samvat 558. A large number of devotees were present, and the atmosphere throughout the event was filled with spiritual devotion.
Welfare and Facilities Focused
Addressing the gathering, Dhami stated that the SGPC has always been committed to ensuring the welfare and facilities of its employees. He also stated that the primary responsibility of employees serving in Gurdwaras is to serve the Sangat and maintain the dignity of Sikh institutions. According to him, service and discipline are equally important as their job duties.

Dhami also issued another important directive for SGPC employees. He stated that all employees must now wear traditional Sikh attire, the kurta-pyjama, while on duty. He emphasized that the conduct and attire of everyone serving in the Gurdwaras should reflect Sikh traditions. This also maintains the sanctity and respect of the Gurdwaras.
The SGPC president also instructed employees to begin their daily work with spiritual discipline. He directed that all employees collectively recite the Mool Mantra and chant the “Waheguru” Gurmantra before beginning their duties. He believes this not only improves individual conduct but also strengthens the dignity of institutions.
During the program, the Hazuri Ragi Jatha of Harmandir Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan, led by Bhai Harjeet Singh. Ardaas was performed by Bhai Prem Singh, while Granthi Singh Sahib Giani Parvinderpal Singh shared spiritual thoughts after the Hukamnama. Several SGPC members, officials, and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion. At the end of the program, prayers were offered for the well-being of humanity, while the Sangat was wished a Happy Nanakshahi New Year.
