7th Pay Commission: The central government can give a gift to the central employees by the end of February. The government can announce an increase in dearness allowance (DA). According to reports, this time the government can increase the dearness allowance of central employees by 3 percent. This increase in DA will be considered effective from January 1, 2025. However, if we look at the record of previous years, the government has increased the DA of January in late February and early March. The government can increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) before the festival of Holi. The government increases DA twice a year, on January 1 and July 1.

Dearness allowance will become 56%

Last year also, DA was increased in the first week of October. But it was considered effective from July 1. The government had increased DA by 3 percent in October. Then DA increased from 50 percent to 53 percent. Earlier in March 2024, DA was increased by 4 percent. Then dearness allowance increased by 4 percent and became 50 percent of basic pay. Now DA is 53 percent of basic salary. Also, dearness relief (DR) for pensioners is also 53 percent. DA is given to central employees, while DR is given to pensioners. If the government increases DA by 3 percent, then DA will increase to 56 percent.

Dearness allowance will increase on this date of February

The government will make this announcement before Holi. This time Holi is on March 14. The government will also release the installment of PM Kisan on February 28. There will be a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 26. After that the government can increase the dearness allowance of central employees.

Will the DA stopped during COVID-19 be available?

Recently during the monsoon session of Parliament, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary clarified that the government is not looking at the possibility of releasing the 18 months of DA and DR arrears stopped during the COVID-19 epidemic. In response to a question, Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said that the government is not considering releasing the 18 months of DA and DR arrears of central employees and pensioners which were stopped during COVID-19. Due to the economic trouble caused by the Kovid epidemic, three installments of January 2020, July 2020 and January 2021 were stopped.
