7th Pay Commission: There is a big news for the employees of the Central Government. The government has taken an important decision for some of its employees. Now the central employees falling under certain categories of disability will get transport allowance at double the normal rate. The Finance Ministry has asked all the ministries and departments to strictly follow this instruction.

They will get these facilities

In a recent office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, it has been clarified that amending the earlier instructions issued on 15 September 2022, a new list of categories of disability has been issued under which double transport allowance will be given to the employees. According to the new order, employees falling under the following categories under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 will be entitled to this facility, provided other conditions are met-:

Locomotor Disability: This includes people who have recovered from leprosy, cerebral paralysis, dwarfism, muscular weakness and acid attack victims. It also includes spinal cord deformities and injuries. Apart from these, people who are blind or have low vision, who have hearing problems, people whose speech is not clear or who have difficulty in talking, people suffering from learning disorders or autism spectrum, mental illnesses and long-term neurological diseases like multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease will also be eligible for this.

Blood-related Disabilities: Hemophilia, Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Disease.

Multiple Disabilities: That is, suffering from two or more of the above disabilities, such as people suffering from both deafness and blindness.

Why are these facilities necessary?

Disabled employees have to face many difficulties in everyday life. It is very difficult for them to travel anywhere, especially for work. Doubling the transport allowance by the government is a big relief for these employees, which will not only provide them financial support but will also encourage them to mingle with the society.
