Before giving relief on the life certificate, the government also gave a big relief to the pensioners on the pension payment order. Pensioners can now store pension payment orders (PPOs) in ‘DigiLocker’. This has completely reduced the dependence on physical copy of pension payment orders to some extent.

The government has introduced door step service for digital life certificate through postman. Now pensioners do not have to go to the treasury, bank or any other department. This work can be accomplished through the postman or Gramin Dak Sevak of the nearest post office. Postmen will reach the pensioners’ house and submit the certificate online. To take advantage of this service, some charges will also have to be paid.

Due to the Corona crisis, dearness allowance (DA) is being given to pensioners at the old rate. The current rate is 21 per cent but at the present rate of 17 per cent is being paid. This arrangement is in force till June 2021. In such a situation, the pensioners are expected to get relief on DA only after this date. Pensioners as well as central personnel will also benefit from this.
