Cyber fraudsters are stealing your details by getting you to download PDF and APK files. They then gain access to your bank accounts.

Seeing the rise of this type of cyber fraud, I4C has issued a warning to government employees through its official X handle. In its post, I4C Cyber Dost explained that government employees are receiving WhatsApp messages asking them to download an APK file to find out their salary after the 8th Pay Commission is implemented. Once the APK is installed, fraudulent hackers gain access to their mobile phones. The hackers then hack into their bank accounts and withdraw money.
How to Avoid Cyber Fraud
The I4C also explained how to protect yourself from such cyber fraud. According to the I4C, government employees should ignore any such WhatsApp messages, emails, phone calls, etc. The I4C stated that the government never sends any .APK files on WhatsApp. Downloading .APKs from such unverified sources can be extremely dangerous.
