The Delhi government, led by Rekha Gupta, presented a budget of ₹1,03,700 crore for Delhi in the Assembly on Tuesday. In this budget, the government has given special priority to education, health, infrastructure, and the environment. For the first time, the budget has allocated ₹11,666 crore to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and ₹9,000 crore to the Delhi Jal Board. A substantial amount of funding has been allocated for bicycles for girl students, laptops for meritorious students, and dust-free roads.

Rekha Gupta informed the House that Delhi has reached third place in the country in terms of per capita income. Last year, we presented a historic budget of ₹1 lakh crore. Previously, only ₹6-7 thousand crore was spent on infrastructure, but under our government, this amount has increased to ₹28 thousand crore.

The Delhi government has made major announcements to promote technology and facilities in the education sector. Every girl student in the ninth grade of government schools will receive a bicycle as a gift, while meritorious students in the tenth grade will receive laptops.

Additionally, smart boards will be installed in 8,777 classrooms, for which a fund of ₹150 crore has been allocated under the Smart Class Project. This initiative is in line with the Prime Minister’s ‘4-S’ vision (Speed, Skill, Strength, Scale) to enhance students’ skills and strengths.

The budget allocated ₹5,921 crore to the Public Works Department (PWD) to strengthen infrastructure. ₹1,392 crore will be spent on dust-free roads and network improvements. ₹210 crore has been allocated for the long-delayed Barapullah Corridor, and ₹200 crore for undergrounding 52,000 kilometers of power lines. A special budget of ₹300 crore has also been allocated for the development of the first phase of the Yamuna Par (East Delhi).
