Jammu Train Cancelled: Rain and floods continue to wreak havoc in Jammu and this has badly disrupted road as well as rail traffic. Many trains have been cancelled on the Mata Vaishno Devi Katra route.
Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in the country and floods and landslides have created havoc in the hilly areas. Its effect is also visible on rail traffic, especially Jammu division seems to be very affected. Northern Railway canceled 22 trains coming and going to Jammu-Katra railway stations. Earlier on Tuesday, 27 trains were stopped midway. Railway passengers are facing a lot of trouble due to train cancellation.
Railways gave details of canceled trains
According to the Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, Jammu Division, this decision has been taken to cancel the trains in view of the current weather conditions in the Jammu region. Sharing more details, the railway official said that out of the trains running between Jammu-Katra railway station which have been canceled, 9 out of 22 trains are going to run from Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Katra, while the remaining trains were to reach Katra, Jammu and Udhampur stations.
While giving information about the cancelled trains, the Railway PRO said that in view of the rain havoc, 27 trains have been stopped midway in Pathankot besides Ferozepur, Manda and Chak Rakhwalan. However, he said that train operations are continuing on the Katra-Srinagar division. Not only this, train services from Pathankot to Kandori in Himachal Pradesh were also suspended due to heavy soil erosion and sudden floods in the Chakki river.
Rain-flood havoc continues in Jammu
Heavy rains have been falling in the Jammu region since last Monday, which is the highest in decades. In fact, more than 250 mm of rain has been recorded in Jammu city in less than a day. Due to this, the flood, landslide situation has become worrisome, bridges and roads have been damaged and residential-agricultural areas are completely submerged. The situation is such that a large number of people are being forced to leave their homes and go to another place.
Major accident on Vaishno Devi Yatra route
The latest example of the havoc of flood and rain in Jammu is the landslide incident on the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route, in which the number of people who lost their lives has crossed 30. This accident happened near Ardhkuwari and after this accident, while trains on the Jammu route have been canceled, the Vaishno Devi Yatra has been stopped for the time being due to landslides and falling stones at many places.
