CBSE Scholarship 2025-26: CBSE has opened the application portal under Central Sector Scholarship. College and university students, who come from poor sections, can apply under this scheme for the academic year 2025-26.
Central Sector Scholarship 2025-26: The central and state governments run various scholarship programs for students so that the studies of meritorious youth are not hindered due to lack of money. One such scholarship is also given by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This scholarship is for those talented students who come from economically weaker sections and are studying in college or university.
CBSE has started the application process under the Central Sector Scholarship (CSSS) scheme for the academic year 2025-26. Know here how and how students can apply.
Till when can you apply?
Issuing an official notification from CBSE, it has been told that online CSSS registration has started on the online application portal. The last date for submitting online application form for renewal of scholarship and new scholarship for academic year 2025-26 is 31 October 2025.
How many new students are selected every year?
For both new and renewal applications under CSSS, candidates have to visit the National Scholarship Portal scholarships.gov.in. Under this scheme, 82,000 new students are given scholarships every year by the Central Board of Secondary Education. This includes courses like medical, engineering, graduation and postgraduation.
Last date of application
Students have been advised to complete their online application by 31 October 2025. Along with this, if verification is required by the institute, then the students should get their application verified on time by showing the original documents, otherwise the form will be considered invalid.
CBSE has instructed the nodal officers of the institutions to verify the online application on time. This includes accepting the application form, rejecting it or marking the incorrect application.
Eligibility Criteria
CBSE Central Sector Scholarship is for those students whose first renewal is for the year 2024, second renewal for the year 2023, third for 2022 and fourth renewal for the year 2021. Students doing graduation will get Rs 12,000 every year for the first three years. At the same time, students enrolled in post graduate courses will be given financial assistance of Rs 20,000 per year.
Important conditions for application
- The student should be admitted to a college/institution affiliated to AICTE or any recognized regulatory body.
- The student should not be getting the benefit of any other government scholarship or fee waiver.
- Only those students can apply under this scheme, whose family’s annual income is not more than Rs 4.5 lakh.
Objective of this scheme of CBSE
The objective of this scheme is to provide financial help to economically weak meritorious students, so that they can bear the expenses of their daily needs during higher education and continue their studies without any financial problems.
