Lucknow Kanpur Expressway: The 63-km-long Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway will take 40 minutes to complete. The IT City, Kisan Path, and land pooling will also benefit local development and farmers.
Lucknow Kanpur Expressway: Traveling between Lucknow and Kanpur is about to become much easier and faster. Work on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is nearly complete. This new route will make the journey from Lucknow to Kanpur just 40 minutes.
The expressway is 63 kilometers long, with 45 kilometers of this greenfield section and 18 kilometers of this elevated section in Lucknow. 98 percent of the work on the elevated section is complete. Now, only the removal of some power lines at the Scooter India intersection remains.
When will this expressway open?
The expressway is scheduled to open by December 15th. Two power towers near Scooter India were obstructing the route. One of these towers has been removed, and the other will be removed soon. After this, the elevated road will be fully connected to Kanpur Road. Officials say that vehicles will be running on this route by mid-December. This will not only save time but also eliminate traffic congestion. Vehicles coming from Lucknow are currently getting off at Azad Marg Chauraha interchange on NH-27.
Cost of Rs 5 crore
An alternative route has also been developed for those traveling to Kanpur. One can reach Lucknow from the Koraari interchange via the Unnao-Lalganj Highway via Gadankheda intersection. This alternative route is also convenient for travelers.
In addition, development work is progressing rapidly near the IT City. A new two-kilometer road is being built between the IT City and Kisan Path, costing ₹5 crore. The tender for this road has been completed. Additionally, under the land pooling scheme, plots will be allotted to farmers in Sector 5 through lottery by the end of November. Construction of grid roads has also begun, which will further improve the area.
Land from 11 villages in Mohanlalganj tehsil is part of this scheme. So far, 117 farmers have donated more than 550 bighas of land for land pooling. In return, they will receive plots worth one-fourth of their land. The Lucknow Development Authority has appealed to farmers to apply as soon as possible to facilitate smooth completion of the process. This expressway and the development around it will be beneficial not only for the travellers but also for the local people and farmers.
