New Banking System: HDFC Bank, one of the country’s largest private banks, has amended several of its rules and issued new regulations this month. If you are an HDFC Bank customer, this news will be very important for you. HDFC Bank has made several changes for its customers, including loan interest rates, fixed deposit interest rates, ATM withdrawal rules, and locker charges. Some of these changes have come into effect this month, March, while others will be implemented next month, April 1, 2026. Let’s learn the details.

HDFC Bank’s New MCLR Rates

HDFC Bank has reduced its MCLR by up to 10 basis points. This will benefit loan borrowers. HDFC Bank’s new MCLR rates, effective March 7, 2026, are as follows: Overnight – 8.15% (previously 8.25%)
1 Month – 8.15% (previously 8.25%)
3 Months – 8.25% (previously 8.30%)
6 Months – 8.35% (previously 8.40%)
1 Year – 8.35% (previously 8.40%)
2 Years – 8.45% (previously 8.50%)
3 Years – 8.55% (previously 8.60%)

HDFC Bank FD Interest Rates

HDFC Bank has revised its FD interest rates this month, March 2026, implementing the new rates. HDFC Bank has increased FD interest rates by 10 basis points for certain tenures. The interest rate on FDs with tenures ranging from 3 years 1 day to less than 4 years 7 months has been increased from 6.40% to 6.50%. For senior citizens, the interest rate for the same tenure has been increased from 6.90% to 7%. Currently, HDFC Bank offers returns ranging from 2.75% to 6.50% for general customers and from 3.25% to 7% for senior citizens.

New rules for withdrawing cash from HDFC Bank ATMs using UPI

HDFC Bank has changed the rules for withdrawing cash from ATMs using UPI, effective April 1, 2026. ATM withdrawals using UPI will now count towards the monthly free ATM transaction limit. After the free limit is reached, each transaction will incur a tax of ₹23.

HDFC Bank’s New Locker Charges

HDFC Bank has also decided to change the rent for safe deposit lockers, effective April 1, 2026. As per the new rules, the bank has added a new category called Metro Plus. Locker rent will be determined based on the locker size and branch location. An additional 18% GST will be applicable on all locker charges.
