IMD Weather Forecast: Two new western disturbances are set to change the weather across the country. Rain and snowfall alerts have been issued for Delhi-NCR, the plains of North India, and the mountains. Find out the complete weather forecast for your state.
IMD Weather Forecast: While the heat was beginning to show its intensity in this last week of March, the weather has taken a sudden turn once again. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), two Western Disturbances are becoming active one after the other in North India. As a result, many states across the country will experience rain, strong storms, hailstorms, and a drop in temperature over the next few days. According to the IMD, northwest India will be primarily affected by two Western Disturbances:
The first Western Disturbance: will become active from March 26th.
The second Western Disturbance: will begin its impact on the night of March 28th.
Due to the interaction of these disturbances with other weather systems, such as cyclonic circulations and troughs, widespread rain and strong winds are expected in many parts of the country.
Situation in the hilly and northwestern plains
Hill states: Light rain or snowfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from March 26th. Strong winds with speeds of 30 to 50 kmph and thunderstorms are also expected. Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in the upper reaches. Lower areas (such as Srinagar, Shimla, and Manali) may experience heavy rain and thunderstorms. A yellow alert has been issued for Dehradun, Nainital, and the Chardham region, threatening rain and hailstorms. Travelers have been advised to be cautious of landslides.
Rainfall Intensifies: The activation of a second Western Disturbance between March 28 and 30 will further intensify rainfall and snowfall in the Western Himalayan region.
Plains: During this period (March 28-30), Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan are also expected to experience strong winds and thunderstorms. Heavy rain and hailstorms are expected in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Ambala. Farmers are warned that this unseasonal rain and hailstorm could damage the wheat crop.
Delhi NCR Weather Forecast
The national capital, Delhi, will also experience frequent fluctuations in weather for the next few days. The skies in Delhi-NCR (Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad) will remain cloudy. Dust storms with winds of 30-40 kilometers per hour and light to moderate rain are expected. This could cause a drop of 2 to 3 degrees in daytime temperatures.
Alert until March 27: Partly cloudy skies are expected. Light rain or drizzle, along with thunderstorms, is possible in the city.
Wind and Temperature: Wind speeds in Delhi could reach 40 kmph. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius.
