The police have arrested Amritpal Singh, the killer of social media influencer ‘Kamal Bhabhi,’ in Punjab. After murdering Kamal Bhabhi, Amritpal had fled abroad to evade the police. Subsequently, the police traced the accused’s location, secured his deportation, and arrested him at Delhi Airport. Amritpal is the prime accused in the sensational murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari—alias ‘Kamal Bhabhi’—which took place in Bathinda in June 2025. He was deported from the Middle East.

The Bathinda Police confirmed Amritpal’s apprehension. The police stated that the fugitive, Amritpal Singh Mehron, has been captured with the assistance of central agencies and the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell, operating under the Counter-Intelligence Wing of the Punjab Police.

Murder Committed Last Year

On June 9 of last year, Amritpal, along with three accomplices, kidnapped the victim and murdered her. Subsequently, they abandoned her body inside a car parked at Aadesh Hospital in Bathinda. His accomplices in this case have already been arrested. After committing the murder, Amritpal fled the country to evade legal action. The Punjab Police, in collaboration with central agencies, tracked his location in the Middle East and initiated extradition proceedings. Consequently, he was taken into custody and deported to India. The accused was arrested on the morning of April 10, 2026, at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Murder Over Allegations of Promoting Obscenity

Kanchan, popularly known as ‘Kamal Kaur Bhabhi,’ was allegedly targeted for promoting obscenity in her videos. She was murdered on June 9, and her body was discovered in an abandoned car in Bathinda. Just hours after the murder, the prime accused, Mehron, fled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Mehron, a 30-year-old resident of Moga, is also accused of threatening at least two other female social media influencers in the state. In a video that surfaced on social media following the murder, Mehron can allegedly be heard stating that Kanchan was killed by his two accomplices. The Chief Granthi of the Akal Takht had justified the murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, remarking that “nothing wrong has happened” and that no one should listen to obscene songs.
