Uttarakhand Roadways has fixed the fares for Volvo and AC buses operating on the Dehradun-Delhi Expressway. Passengers will now have to pay ₹709 for a Volvo bus and ₹557 for an AC bus for the journey from Dehradun to Delhi. Meanwhile, the fare for an ordinary bus will be ₹355.

On the old route (via Roorkee), the fare for a Volvo bus was ₹945, for an AC bus ₹704, and for an ordinary bus ₹420. The fares have now been reduced by ₹236 for Volvo buses, ₹147 for AC buses, and ₹355 for ordinary buses.

On Thursday, Deputy General Manager (Technical) Bhupesh Kushwah stated that the Roadways Corporation has launched 14 non-stop bus services operating on the expressway. According to a route survey, the distance between Dehradun and Delhi via the new expressway has been reduced to 215 km. The fares have been determined based on this calculation.

For Now, Ordinary Buses Will Operate on the Old Route

Roadways officials state that if a sufficient number of passengers is secured, some ordinary bus services will be operated via the expressway. For the time being, however, ordinary buses will continue to run on the old route (via Roorkee–Muzaffarnagar).

Transporters Concerned Over Toll Rates

Transporters have expressed concern regarding the toll rates on the expressway. The General Secretary noted that while fuel and time are being saved, there is a likelihood of an increase in toll taxes. Meanwhile, Vice President A.P. Uniyal has urged the government to keep toll rates on the expressway low so that the general public and traders can fully reap the benefits.

Transport Business Gains Momentum: Trucks Now Arrive in Four Hours

The inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has breathed new life into Uttarakhand’s transport sector. Cargo trucks that previously took seven to eight hours to reach Delhi are now covering the distance in just four hours. This not only results in significant time savings but has also streamlined freight movement to major cities such as Delhi, Gurugram, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Ahmedabad.

Trucks will save 30 liters of diesel per trip.

State General Secretary of the All India Motor Transport Congress, Adesh Saini Samrat, explained that a six-wheeled truck used to consume approximately 100 liters of diesel to travel to Delhi via the old route. Now, due to reduced traffic congestion and improved roads, this consumption has dropped to 70 liters. This means a saving of 30 liters of diesel per trip.
