Bank Holiday: If you are planning to visit a bank today, first check whether banks are open in your state. On Tuesday, April 21, banks across the country are not closed; however, in Tripura, all bank branches will remain closed on account of Garia Puja. In all other states, banks will function as usual. According to the RBI’s list of bank holidays, a bank holiday has been declared solely in Tripura due to Garia Puja.

Garia Puja is a major festival in Tripura. Since this festival is celebrated exclusively within Tripura, the holiday has been observed in this specific state alone. The festival of Garia Puja is associated with the harvest, happiness, and prosperity. On this day, people worship Lord Garia and pray for a bountiful harvest. Due to this festival, all government and private banks in the state will remain closed.

However, in states where banks are open, all services will operate normally. Conversely, in states where banks are closed, branch-related operations—such as cash deposits, cheque clearance, or the issuance of drafts—will not be possible. Nevertheless, customers need not be concerned, as services such as UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and ATMs will continue to be available as usual.
