The Haryana Government is providing a 5% interest subsidy on education loans for the higher education of girls under the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign. This scheme is being implemented through the Haryana Women Development Corporation.
To further enhance the effectiveness of the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) campaign, the Haryana government has implemented a special scheme to encourage higher education among girls and women. Under this scheme, and facilitated through the Haryana Women Development Corporation, female students are being provided with a 5 percent interest subsidy on education loans availed from banks.
Opportunity to Study Abroad as Well
Deputy Commissioner Anupama Anjali stated that the objective of this initiative is to ensure that no female student is deprived of higher education due to financial constraints. Under this scheme, the subsidy will be granted on loans taken for technical education, diploma courses, postgraduate studies, PhD programs, and other higher education courses. A key highlight of this scheme is that it is applicable to female students pursuing their studies not only within the country but also abroad.
Permanent Residency in Haryana is Mandatory
He/She informed that to avail the benefits of this scheme, no conditions regarding income or caste have been imposed; the only requirement is that the applicant must be a permanent resident of Haryana. The interest subsidy amount is directly borne by the Corporation through the relevant procedural channels.
