Indian Railways Refund Rules: No refund for booked train ticket in Corona era? Railways gave good news

Indian Railways (IRCTC) Refund Rules: Refund process of passengers who booked tickets through IRCTC portal was completed automatically.



Indian Railway (IRCTC) Refund Rules for Train Ticket: In order to prevent the infection of Corona epidemic, the services of the railway were stopped from 22 March last year during the lockdown in 2020. However, most of the people could not get their counter tickets canceled in time which they had booked counter tickets for the journey during that time. Now the Railway Ministry has given the facility that the tickets which were booked for the journey from 21 March 2020 to 31 July 2020 last year, can be canceled and refund can be taken within nine months instead of six months. The ministry had earlier increased the period of counter ticket cancellation from three days to six months due to the Corona epidemic.

Full fare will be returned

The ministry has said in a statement that these are applicable only for those regular time tabled trains, which have been canceled by the Railways. According to the statement issued by the ministry, even after six months from the date of travel, many passengers had sent their tickets to the zonal railway office through TDR or common application so that they could get refund in return for not traveling. Railways said that the full fare of PRS counter ticket of such passengers will be refunded.

Trains were closed due to Corona epidemic

In March 2020, after the announcement of lockdown in the country due to Corona epidemic, the regular train services were canceled. For cancellation of the tickets that the passengers had booked, the passengers were given three months time instead of three days. Although the outbreak of the Corona epidemic continued, due to this, passengers were given six months instead of three months for ticket cancellation. However, it has now been extended to six months. That is, passengers who wanted to travel between 21 March 2020 to 31 July 2020 through a counter ticket, can now withdraw the entire amount of fare for a period of 9 months from the date of travel. For passengers who had booked tickets through IRCTC portal, the refund process was completed automatically.
