Modifying someone else’s Aadhaar card
If anyone attempts to change the details or information on another person’s Aadhaar card, or tries to alter the person’s identity, it is a crime. In such cases, the offender can face up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of ₹10,000.
Operating a fraudulent Aadhaar-related agency
If someone opens an Aadhaar-related agency without authorization and collects people’s information, it is also a crime. In this situation, the offender can face up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of ₹10,000. If a company commits this offense, the fine can be up to ₹1,00,000.
Leaking personal information from an Aadhaar card
If someone discloses or leaks the personal information from another person’s Aadhaar card to an unauthorized person, it is a crime. In such cases, the offender can face up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of ₹10,000. For a company, the fine can be up to ₹1,00,000.
Committing a crime at an Aadhaar center
If someone hacks into an Aadhaar center or commits any other crime, such as tampering with the central database or stealing data, they can face up to 10 years in prison and a fine ranging from 10,000 rupees to 1 million rupees.
