UIDAI has issued new security guidelines to help citizens keep their Aadhaar details safe. To avoid potential fraud, the organization advises Aadhaar card holders to immediately adopt these five essential security measures.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recently launched a new, updated Aadhaar app. Several new features have been added, eliminating the need for people to carry physical documents. UIDAI also issued important data security advice from its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Why is Aadhaar security important?
The Aadhaar card is the foundation for many essential services. If it falls into the wrong hands, your biometric and personal data could be misused, increasing the risk of cyber fraud, financial fraud, and identity theft.
अब दस्तावेज़ ढूँढने या फोटोकॉपी शेयर करने की ज़रूरत नहीं।
Aadhaar App के साथ अपनी पहचान शेयर करें स्मार्ट, सुरक्षित और तेज़ तरीके से — कभी भी, कहीं भी।
• Selective Share — सिर्फ वही जानकारी शेयर करें जो ज़रूरी हो
• Biometrics Lock — एक टैप में बायोमेट्रिक सुरक्षा

5 Easy Ways to Keep Your Aadhaar Secure
1. Never Share OTP: UIDAI recommends never sharing your Aadhaar-linked OTP with anyone. OTP is your final layer of security; without it, no one can access your data.
2. Use a masked Aadhaar: When providing identification for hotels, SIM cards, or other services, use a masked Aadhaar. This hides the first eight digits of your Aadhaar number, leaving only the last four digits visible.
3. Enable Biometric Lock: Lock your fingerprint, iris, and face data from the official Aadhaar app or website. This will prevent anyone from using your biometrics without your permission.
4. Don’t share your Aadhaar information online: Never post a photo or copy of your Aadhaar card on social media or any public platform. This could allow fraudsters to misuse your personal information.
5. Use the official helpline: If you suspect your Aadhaar data has been misused or you’ve been a victim of cyber fraud, contact them immediately.
