The government will soon implement a new rule requiring hotels and event organizers to stop accepting photocopies of Aadhaar. New digital technology will now be used for Aadhaar verification, strengthening data privacy and reducing the risk of leaks. This will be convenient for the public.
Aadhaar Photocopy New Rules: The government will soon implement a new rule. Hotels and event organizers will no longer be required to obtain photocopies of Aadhaar cards. Instead, they will be required to use new digital verification technology. This will ensure compliance with the Aadhaar Act and reduce the risk of data leaks. This change will also be convenient for the public. Keeping photocopies of Aadhaar cards is a violation of the Aadhaar Act.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar stated that all organizations that perform Aadhaar-related verification, such as hotels and event organizers, will now be required to register with the system. They will be required to use a new verification technology. This system will allow verification by scanning a QR code or using the new Aadhaar mobile app. This new rule will be implemented soon. Its purpose is to eliminate paper-based Aadhaar verification.
UIDAI is testing an app.
This new method of verification will also eliminate the problems faced by the intermediary server. Organizations that require offline verification will be provided with an API (Application Programming Interface), allowing them to integrate this verification system into their software.
UIDAI is also testing a new app. This app will enable app-to-app verification without connecting to a central server every time. This app can be used at airports and shops that sell goods based on age.
Bhuvnesh Kumar said that this new method will further strengthen Aadhaar privacy. It will also eliminate the risks associated with keeping a photocopy of Aadhaar on paper. He said, “Users’ privacy will be protected, and there will be no risk of their Aadhaar data being leaked or misused.”
What does the government want?
This app will also support the upcoming Digital Personal Data Protection Act, which will be fully implemented in 18 months. People will be able to upload their updated address proof through this app. Family members who do not have mobile phones can also be added to this app.
This new rule will ensure compliance with the Aadhaar Act. Previously, photocopies of Aadhaar cards were collected at many locations, posing a risk of data leakage. Now, this process will be digitized. This will not only increase security but also simplify verification.
This change will also be beneficial for people. They will no longer need to carry a photocopy of their Aadhaar card with them everywhere. They will be able to easily verify their Aadhaar through the mobile app. This is another important step towards Digital India.
