Aadhaar PVC card Charge: An important update has been released for Aadhaar card holders. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has increased the fee for Aadhaar PVC cards. The fee for making an Aadhaar PVC card has been increased from ₹50 to ₹75. This new fee is effective from January 1st and includes all taxes and delivery charges.
UIDAI stated that this decision was made due to the increased cost of manufacturing and safely delivering Aadhaar PVC cards to homes. Over the past few years, the cost of card materials, printing, security features, and logistics has increased. Keeping this in mind, the fee has been revised to maintain the quality of service.
The Aadhaar PVC card service was launched in 2020. Its purpose was to provide people with a strong, durable, and pocket-sized card instead of the paper Aadhaar card. This card resembles an ATM or debit card and does not deteriorate over a long period of time. People can order it online through the myAadhaar portal or the mAadhaar mobile app.
According to UIDAI, the new fees will apply to all new orders placed through UIDAI’s official online platform. This decision was made after approval from the competent authority.
UIDAI is a statutory body established in 2009 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. UIDAI issues 12-digit Aadhaar numbers to citizens, which serve as proof of identity and address. Aadhaar is used for various services, including government schemes, subsidies, banking, taxes, and mobile connections.
From a consumer perspective, although the fee has increased by ₹25, people will receive a safe and reliable Aadhaar PVC card in return.
