Aadhaar update: As the year draws to a close, Aadhaar-related tasks are quietly reappearing on people’s to-do lists. The government has once again reminded people that their Aadhaar details must be accurate and updated, and more importantly, that Aadhaar must be properly linked to important documents like PAN cards. The deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar is December 31, 2025.
While this time may seem distant, UIDAI’s new advisory is a signal that this should not be left to the last minute. This reminder is thanks to UIDAI, which is continuously working to update Aadhaar across the country.
How to easily download your Aadhaar
Downloading e-Aadhaar is one of the easiest tasks, especially if you have your phone with you. Simply visit the UIDAI website and tap the ‘Download Aadhaar’ option in the “MY Aadhaar” menu.
You can choose from three options to download Aadhaar:
- Aadhaar Number
- Enrollment ID (EID)
- Virtual ID (VID)
After selecting your option, enter your contact number and fill in the captcha. An OTP will then be sent directly to your registered mobile number. Once entered, UIDAI will instantly generate your e-Aadhaar PDF. Please note that this file is password-protected. The password is the first four capital letters of your name followed by your year of birth.
How to Link PAN with Aadhaar Online
If you haven’t yet linked your Aadhaar with PAN, the Income Tax Department has simplified the process.
- First, visit the official Income Tax portal, incometax.gov.in.
- Find and click the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option under Quick Links.
- Enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, and name exactly as they appear on the Aadhaar card.
- If everything is correct, proceed to the next step.
In some cases, linking the two may incur a small fee, which can be paid online via debit card, net banking, or UPI. After payment (if applicable), submit your request and wait for a confirmation message confirming that your PAN and Aadhaar have been officially linked.
