You can do free update in Aadhaar sitting at home
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that people can update their Aadhaar card information like name, address or date of birth for free till 14 December 2024. This process is completely online, so that you can easily update your information sitting at home.
Why is Aadhaar update necessary?
UIDAI has suggested to all people that if it has been more than 10 years since your information has been updated in Aadhaar, then you must update it. You will get many benefits from this. Your existing information will be updated in Aadhaar. You can avail private and government services. You can easily update Aadhaar verification information.
Visit the UIDAI website: Login to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
Select the Update section and click on the ‘Update Your Aadhaar’ option under ‘My Aadhaar’.
Go to the detail update page and select ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’ and click on ‘Document Update’.
Enter the credentials, fill in your Aadhaar number and captcha, then click on ‘Send OTP’.
Login with OTP. You have to login with the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
Select the update option. Select the fields to update your name, address etc.
Upload the document. Fill in the required information and press the submit button.
After submitting, the process will be completed. Now save the Update Request Number (URN).
You will have to go to the center for these updates in Aadhaar
Biometric changes: Updates for iris, fingerprint, mobile number or photo can be done only offline.
One-time change: Updates in date of birth and gender can be done only once.
How to update offline
Those who want to update offline will have to go to the center. Fees will also have to be paid for the update.
Download the form: Download the Aadhaar update form from the UIDAI website.
Submit the form and documents at the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Give biometric data at the Aadhaar center for biometric submission.
You will get a URN slip for tracking your request.
However, UIDAI has extended the deadline for free update several times. It is possible that this deadline may be extended this time too, but until an official announcement is made, the deadline for updating Aadhaar for free is 14 December 2024.
