Indian Airline News: Indian carriers Air India and IndiGo have decided that some of their flights on Wednesday will fly over the Middle East. According to reports, this decision will be contingent upon the security situation at the airports in the region, as well as government approvals.
Flight Restrictions
Air India and Air India Express have issued a travel advisory stating that they will operate both scheduled and non-scheduled flights to select countries in West Asia on April 8. However, the airlines have also noted that the operation of these flights will depend on the availability of airport slots (timings) and the prevailing situation on the ground. This implies that flight schedules are subject to change at any time, depending on how the situation evolves.
IndiGo has confirmed that it will continue to operate select flights to and from the Middle East, stating in a travel advisory that it remains committed to transporting passengers to their destinations. The airline also noted that a limited number of flights will be operated today; however, all such operations will be conducted strictly in accordance with necessary government approvals and regulations.
What does the advisory say?
Citing evolving ground conditions, both airlines have affirmed that the “safety and well-being of passengers and staff” remain their top priority, and have advised passengers to verify their flight details before heading to the airport.
IndiGo has specifically urged passengers to check their flight details in advance and to contact its help center for any necessary assistance.
According to Air India’s latest route-specific updates, its flight operations across the Middle East network will be significantly curtailed on April 8. The airline is currently operating flights on only a select few routes, either as per the scheduled timetable or on an as-needed basis, while flight services to several other destinations have been completely suspended for the day.
Flight Details
Some flights are currently operating at airports in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi (UAE), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), and Muscat (Oman), while other airports remain completely closed. Currently, no flights are being operated to several destinations, including Al Ain, Riyadh, Dammam, Doha, Bahrain, Tel Aviv, and Kuwait.
