Ministry of External Affairs issues travel advisory: It’s difficult to imagine how many fraudsters are posing as “hunters” and laying traps to defraud the country’s youth. Some, in the hope of a better life, risk their lives and travel to Britain, the United States, or Canada willingly to settle abroad. On the other hand, under the guise of “pigeon-flying,” fraudulent individuals allegedly involved in manpower supply schemes lure people to Gulf countries with promises of jobs worth lakhs of rupees a month, where their passports are snatched or torn and they are forced into bonded labor.
The government periodically issues guidelines to protect Indians from such cases. In the latest case, the Ministry of External Affairs has issued an advisory for this Muslim country.
Be careful in Iran!
The Indian government on Friday issued an advisory for Indian citizens regarding travel to Iran. This advisory was issued in response to incidents of criminal gangs luring Indians to Iran with the promise of jobs and then kidnapping them. Following the kidnapping, the gangs demanded ransom. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that several such cases have recently come to light in which Indian citizens were lured to travel to Iran by false promises of employment or assurances that they would be sent to third countries for employment. Upon reaching Iran, these Indian citizens were kidnapped by criminal gangs and ransoms were demanded from their families for their release.
The Ministry of External Affairs advisory also stated that all Indian citizens are strongly cautioned to exercise extreme caution in relation to such employment promises or offers. It is particularly noteworthy that the Iranian government allows visa-free entry to Indians for tourism purposes only.
They urged Indian citizens to be cautious before accepting such false employment offers. The Ministry of External Affairs further stated that any agent promising visa-free entry into Iran for employment or other purposes may be in collusion with criminal gangs, and therefore, Indian citizens are advised not to fall prey to such offers.
This has happened before
Previously, commission agents lured young people to Russia by offering them lucrative packages and then forcibly recruited them into the Russian army. Upon arrival, people discovered the deception they had suffered. Subsequently, people made videos and appealed to the Indian government for help in their rescue. Therefore, if any tempting offer comes from Iran, where the situation is already dire, please refrain from traveling there.
