Flights will be affected due to this reason on May 8

Akasa Airlines has said in its post on social media platform X that ‘Due to pre-monsoon maintenance, both runways at Mumbai Airport are closed on 8 May 2025, due to which some of our flights to and from Mumbai have been affected. We understand that this may affect your travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience. MIAL also updated

Let us tell you that some time ago, Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), which operates the airport, also gave an update regarding this. MIAL had informed that on May 8, from 11 am to 5 pm, both runways – primary (09/27) and secondary (14/32) will be temporarily closed for maintenance work. During this time, there will be no takeoff or landing of any flight from the airport.

This work is done every year

Let us tell you that this is a pre-monsoon maintenance work done every year, which is very important for the safety and longevity of the airport’s infrastructure. During this, experts inspect the runway surface to check for any kind of wear or damage. Apart from this, necessary measures are taken to prevent waterlogging so that safe takeoff and landing can be ensured during the monsoon.
