Akasa Air to soon start international flights from Delhi, Boeing aircraft deliveries expected to accelerate
Indian airline Akasa Air will soon begin international flights from the capital, Delhi. Akasa Air expects Boeing to expedite aircraft deliveries, a senior official said on Monday. The airline, which is scheduled to begin operations in August 2022, currently has a fleet of 30 aircraft. It currently operates flights on 24 domestic and six international routes. Praveen Iyer, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Akasa Air, said, “We will soon begin international flights from Delhi.”

Akasa Air currently operates 24 daily flights from Delhi. Praveen Iyer said in the national capital that the airline will consider operating flights to various international destinations, including Singapore, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Tashkent. Akasa Air currently serves six international cities: Doha (Qatar), Jeddah, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Kuwait City (Kuwait), and Phuket (Thailand). The airline has contracted a total of 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. It is experiencing delivery delays. Iyer said that with Boeing ramping up production, Akasa Air expects the aircraft to arrive soon.
Akasa Air is also considering expanding services to Africa
Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dubey recently stated that his company is now feeling very good about the delivery of its Boeing aircraft. Emphasizing that Akasa Air’s international expansion will continue in the right direction, Vinay Dubey said that the airline will soon announce flights to Sharjah. In an interview with PTI, Vinay Dubey said, “Our aircraft are capable of reaching the shores of East Africa.” “It can go as far as Mauritius, and on the southern edge, it can go to Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt. We can also go to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. The Boeing 737 Max is capable of going as far as South Asia.”
