Amul Micro ATM: Amul Micro ATM has been started for dairy farmers in Rajkot village of Gujarat.
Amul Micro ATM: Anandpar, a small village in Gujarat’s Rajkot district, on Wednesday became the first village in the country to have an Aadhaar based Amul Micro ATM payment center for dairy farmers. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF), popularly known as Amul, will replicate this pilot project in the entire state as well as other parts of the country in the coming days.
Anandpar, a small village with a population of about 4000 people, buys about 2,000 liters of milk per day.
The first of its kind service was launched after the secretary of Anandpar Village Dairy Cooperative Society, affiliated to Gopal Dairy, under Rajkot District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited, dispensed cash from an electronic data capture (EDC) machine with a finger scanner.
With this new facility, dairy farmers in remote areas, who do not have proper ATM facility, will be able to withdraw money from milk collection centers or village milk societies using micro ATMs.
Inaugurating the facility at Anandpar, Rajkot Dairy President Gordhanbhi Dhamalia said, now any member can visit the Milk Society and withdraw money through Amul Micro ATM. This is a big relief for dairy farmers, as they no longer need to visit distant banks. Transactions are also safe amid the pandemic situation.
