Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav, launched the NIELIT Digital University. This platform will focus specifically on technologies that are in high demand in the industry. This initiative will provide easy access to high-quality digital education to millions of students across the country. NIELIT aims to shape the country’s technological future, and this launch further strengthens its role.
A New Platform to Bring Digital Education to Every Home
The NIELIT Digital University platform is designed to democratize high-quality digital education. It will offer industry-focused programs in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, semiconductors, and related technologies. These courses will be offered with flexible digital learning modes and virtual labs, enabling young people to acquire future-ready skills.
5 New NIELIT Centers, These States Will Directly Benefit
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also virtually inaugurated five new NIELIT Centers on this occasion. These centers have been opened in different parts of the country. These centers include Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Lunglei (Mizoram), and Daman (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu). These new centers will further strengthen NIELIT’s reach, enabling the institute to continue playing its vital role in shaping the country’s technological future.
Major MoUs Signed with Industry, What Else Happened
During the event, MoUs were signed with leading industry partners to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia. These MoUs will help design courses to bridge the skills education gap. The program also featured a panel discussion with experts on “The Role of AI in the Digitization of Education.” Additionally, top-performing students from the DevSecOps course, jointly run by NIELIT and Kyndryl, were honored. Over 1,500 students, academics, and technology experts attended the event.
What is NIELIT and its strengths?
NIELIT, the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, is an autonomous scientific body under the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India. It has been a leader in skill development and digital empowerment in the country. NIELIT has a vast network of 56 centers, over 750 affiliated institutes, and over 9,000 facilitation centers across the country. The institute has trained and certified millions of students in emerging technologies in the E&ICT domain. NIELIT has also been granted the status of a Deemed to be University by the Ministry of Education.
