According to the figures, 28 lakh people have joined this scheme in the current financial year itself. This scheme has seen a boom in the Corona epidemic and people are connected in a big way. If we look at the overall enrollment, since the beginning of this scheme, since August 25, 3.30 crore people are taking advantage of this scheme. This scheme was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 9 May 2015. This scheme was specially designed keeping in mind those who work in the unorganized sector. This scheme was started for the people who do not get the benefit of any social security scheme.

What is Atal Pension Scheme

Any person who has a savings account in any bank or post office can take Atal Pension Yojana. The minimum age to join this scheme is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 40 years. This is a guaranteed pension scheme run by the government. Under this, the depositor gets a pension of 1,000 to 5,000 rupees. The amount of pension depends on the money to be deposited in the scheme. When the person reaches 60 years of age, then this amount is given to him in the form of pension.

Most schemes open in banks

PFRDA data shows that among the people joining the Atal Pension Yojana, the highest number of people have opened accounts in banks. That is, people who have savings accounts in banks, they are more associated with Atal Pension Yojana. This number is around 2.33 crores. After this comes the number of Regional Rural Banks, through which 61.32 people have taken advantage of this scheme. 20.64 lakh people have taken Atal Pension Yojana through private banks. 10.78 lakh from Small Finance Bank and Payment Bank, 3.40 lakh from Post Office and 84,627 from Co-operative Bank have taken the benefit of Atal Pension Scheme.

There are 14 percent people who have opted for a pension of Rs 5,000 per month. 44 percent of the beneficiaries of the scheme are women and 44 percent of the members are youth. These people are in the age group of 18-25 years. That is, good interest is being seen for the pension scheme in this youth also. PFRDA says that so that people can get more information about Atal Pension Yojana, its charter has been prepared in 13 different languages.
