James Cameron’s epic science fiction film Avatar: Fire and Ash, after its theatrical release, is now ready for digital release on OTT platforms. Released in Indian theaters on December 19, 2025, the film not only achieved a record box office gross of ₹13,070 crore worldwide, but also earned ₹235 crore in India, beating out “Dhurandar Part 1.” Canadian-born James Cameron is currently one of the most astonishing filmmakers in world cinema. Following 2009’s “Avatar” and 2022’s “Avatar: The Way of Water,” this is the third film in the franchise, which explores the wondrous world of Pandora and the Na’vi community.
Avatar: Fire and Ash, also known as ‘Avatar 3’, has a budget of $400 million, or ₹3,400 crore. While it did a worldwide gross business of $1.49 billion (₹13,070 crore). When and where will Avatar: Fire and Ash release on OTT?
According to Sacnilk, after its blockbuster success on the big screen, “Avatar 3” is now coming to OTT. The film will premiere on Disney+ for overseas audiences starting March 31, 2026, while in India, it may stream on JioHotstar sometime between the first week of April and June 2026. The film will be available free of charge for Indian audiences, while overseas audiences will be able to watch it on a premium video-on-demand (PVOD) rental for the first month.

The Story of Avatar: Fire and Ash
The screenplay for “Avatar 3” was co-written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The story picks up where “Avatar 2” left off. The family of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a human-turned-Na’vi, is grieving the loss of his eldest son, Netiam, along with his wife, Netri (Zoe Saldana). Their other son, Loak (Brittan Dalton), blames himself for Netiam’s death. At the other end of the story is Colonel Miles Quartz (Stephen Land), who is on a mission to capture Sully. The story’s biggest twist comes when Colonel Miles encounters the Makwan, a hot-tempered Na’vi tribe representing fire and volcanoes. He joins forces with the community’s leader, Varang (Oona Chaplin). Now the war between the sailors and the sky dwellers escalates into a fierce battle. “Avatar: Fire and Ash” was nominated for two awards at the 98th Academy Awards, winning the Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 2026. It also received two nominations at the 83rd Golden Globes. James Cameron has already confirmed that he will make two more films in the franchise, Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, which will be released in 2029 and 2031.
