Bad News: Bestival season flight tickets to get costlier as govt raises caps on domestic airfares

If you are thinking of traveling by air during the festive season, then there is a bad news for you. According to an order of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the government has increased the minimum and maximum airfare limit for the domestic route. Air fare limit has been increased from 9.83 percent to 12.82 percent. Air tickets will become costlier because of this hike. Let us tell you here that the ticket prices are fixed on the basis of the airfare limit. The government had fixed this limit during the Corona period. The lower limit is for the benefit of the airline while the upper limit was fixed keeping the passengers in mind.




What is in the order: According to the order of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the airfare minimum limit for flights of 40 minutes duration has been increased by 11.53 percent. Now this limit has been increased from Rs 2,600 to Rs 2,900. The airfare maximum limit for flights of less than 40 minutes was increased by 12.82 per cent to Rs 8,800. Similarly, the minimum limit for flights with duration between 40-60 minutes has now been increased to Rs 3,700 instead of Rs 3,300.

The maximum limit for these flights has increased by 12.24 per cent to Rs 11,000. At the same time, the minimum limit for flights with a duration of 60-90 minutes is Rs 4,500 with a growth of 12.5 per cent. The maximum limit for these flights has been increased by 12.82 per cent to Rs 13,200.

As per the order of the Ministry, now, the minimum airfare limits for domestic flights of duration 90-120, 120-150, 150-180 and 180-210 minutes are Rs.5300, Rs.6700, Rs.8300 and Rs.9800 respectively. Till now, the minimum airfare limits for domestic flights of duration 90-120, 120-150, 150-180 and 180-210 minutes were Rs 4700, Rs 6100, Rs 7400 and Rs 8700 respectively.




Crisis of Corona period: Let us tell you that the aviation industry has suffered a great loss due to Corona. Domestic and international flight services have been closed for a long time. However, domestic flight services were started in May 2020 with certain conditions but still the ban on international flight remains intact. International flight is allowed only in certain cases.
