Bank Accounts Closed: If you are a customer of Punjab National Bank and have a bank account in this bank, then this news is especially for you. Punjab National Bank has issued a warning for its customers saying that their bank account may be closed. However, this warning is not for all customers but only for some special customers. Punjab National Bank has issued an important information for the customers on its official social media account. According to this, PNB customers will have to go to their branch and get their KYC done before April 15, 2026. If KYC is not completed by April 15, 2026, then your bank account will be closed from April 16, 2026.

Which customers’ bank accounts will PNB close?

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced that customers whose accounts have not seen any transactions for the past three years and whose account balance is zero (0) will need to visit their branch and complete their KYC before April 15, 2026. If KYC is not completed by April 15, 2026, their bank accounts will be closed without notice from April 16, 2026. PNB stated that customers will need to visit their nearest bank branch for more information on this matter. It should be noted that bank accounts with no transactions for more than two years are considered inactive, and PNB will be closing such accounts.

What is an inoperative account?

According to the RBI website, an inoperative account is a savings or current account that has not had any “customer-induced transactions” for more than two years. If you have a bank account with Punjab National Bank that has not had any transactions for the past three years, you will need to visit your branch and complete your KYC process by submitting all the required documents and filling out the forms. If you do not complete the KYC process and reactivate your account by April 15, your bank account will be closed from April 16, 2026.
