According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar, the holidays begin on March 26. However, the good news is that digital services like online banking, UPI, and ATMs will remain operational 24 hours a day during this period.
Why are banks closed on March 26 and 27?
Banks will be closed in many parts of the country on the occasion of Ram Navami.
March 26: Banks will be closed in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.
March 27: States like Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh will observe a holiday for Ram Navami.

March 29: Banks will be closed nationwide as it is a Sunday. Consequently, in some states, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days from March 26 to 29.
Why is March 31st a holiday again?
The holiday season isn’t going to stop even after the week ends. Banks will be closed again on March 31st for Mahavir Jayanti in several states, including Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand.
How will work be done if banks are closed?
Despite branches being closed, you don’t need to worry. You can use the following services:
- Use UPI, NEFT, or RTGS for money transfers.
- ATMs will remain open for cash withdrawals.
- Use mobile banking or net banking for balance checks or bill payments.
