Bank Holiday October List: Are you postponing any important work related to the bank for the next month? If the answer is ‘yes’, then let us tell you that the banks will be closed for 21 days in October, so get all the work done in time. In the month of October, holidays are starting from 2nd October (Gandhi Jayanti). After this, Durga Puja and Dussehra holidays will start from October 5. Whereas Diwali holiday is on 24th October.

Private and government banks across the country will be closed for a total of 21 days in the month of October, including the second and fourth Saturday-Sunday. There are five Sundays in the month of October. The national festival of Gandhi Jayanti and festivals like Durga Puja, Dussehra and Diwali are also falling in October.

Let us tell you that these bank holidays are different days in different parts. Banks in India are closed according to the Gazetteed Holiday. All banks are closed on public holidays, while some banks are closed on regional festivals and holidays.

The local bank holidays are decided by the respective state governments. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has divided the holidays into three categories – holidays under negotiable instruments, negotiable instruments and RTGS holidays and third, account closing days of banks.

What is the holiday calendar according to RBI

October 1 – Half Yearly Closing of Bank Accounts (Gangtok)

October 2 – Sunday and Gandhi Jayanti Holiday

October 3 – Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami) (Agartala, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi)

October 4 – Durga Puja / Dussehra (Mahanavami) / Ayudha Puja / Birthday of Srimanta Sankardev (Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong and Thiruvananthapuram)

October 5 – Durga Puja / Dussehra (Vijay Dashami) / Birthday of Shrimant Sankardev

October 6 – Durga Puja (Dasai) (Gangtok)

October 7 – Durga Puja (Dasai) (Gangtok)

October 8 – Second Saturday holiday and Milad-e-Sharif/Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Muhammad) (Bhopal, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram)

October 9 – Sunday

October 13 – Karva Chauth. (Shimla)

October 14 – Friday after the birthday of Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi (Jammu and Srinagar)

October 16 – Sunday

October 18 – Kati Bihu (Guwahati)

October 22 – Fourth Saturday

October 23 – Sunday

October 24 – Kali Puja / Deepawali / Diwali (Lakshmi Pujan / Narak Chaturdashi) (Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow , Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram)

October 30 – Sunday 31 October – Birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel / Surya Shashthi Dala Chhath (early morning) / Chhath Puja (Ahmedabad, Patna and Ranchi)
