December is full of holidays
The RBI has announced bank holidays in various states in December to coincide with several regional festivals and special occasions. Banks will be closed in Arunachal Pradesh on December 1st due to Indigenous Faith Day.
Following this, banking services will be closed in Goa on December 3rd for the occasion of St. Francis Xavier’s Day. Banks in Meghalaya have announced a bank closure on December 12th due to Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma Day. If you live in these states, you should avoid visiting the bank on these days.
Bank holidays are also scheduled in several states during the month of December. Banks will be closed in Chhattisgarh on December 18th for Guru Ghasidas Jayanti and in Meghalaya on the death anniversary of U Soso Tham. Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Telangana on December 26th due to Christmas, and Haryana will also observe a bank holiday on this day due to Martyr Udham Singh Jayanti. Banks will remain closed in Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh on December 27th to commemorate Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti.
Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on December 30th for U Kyang Nangbah Day and in Sikkim for Tamu Losar. Banks will remain closed in Mizoram and Manipur on December 31st for the New Year.
