Banks Merged: Today from 1st May, Gramin Bank Aryavart Bank, Prathama Bank and Baroda UP Bank have merged to form Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank.

Banks Merged: On the lines of one state one rural bank, the regional office and 74 branches of Aryavart Bank in Aligarh district will be known as Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank from May 1 today. In this, three major regional rural banks Aryavart Bank, Prathama Bank and Baroda UP Bank will be formally merged.

Regional Manager Neena Gupta said that the regional office of Aryavart Bank and its other 74 branches will now be known as Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank. However, this change will not cause any problem to the customers. There will be no impact on the bank services, rather better services will be available to the customers.

Aryavart Bank in Aligarh

  • 15.76 lakh account holders in 74 branches
  • Account holders have deposits of Rs 2778 crore in these banks
  • The annual turnover of the bank is Rs 5258 crore

Journey so far

  • Gramin Bank was established in Aligarh in 1981.
  • In 2006, Shreyas Gramin Bank was formed by merging Aligarh, Etah, Agra.
  • Gramin Bank of Aryavart was formed in 2013.
  • Aryavart Bank was formed in 2019.
  • In 2025, a new bank Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank was formed after the merger of three bank branches.
  • The new bank will include 26 districts and 22 regional offices.

This change will be beneficial

  • Farmers and rural entrepreneurs will benefit from the increase in loan distribution.
  • Expansion of digital banking will bring modern facilities to remote areas.
  • NABARD’s special committee will monitor to pay special attention to customer facilities.
  • Once the software change is done, Bank of Baroda’s system will be implemented and accounts will be migrated.
  • The checkbooks available with the account holders will be valid right now. However, new checkbooks will be issued later, change in account number is possible
