BCCI announces Harshit Rana’s replacement, this fearsome bowler enters Team India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the replacement for Harshit Rana. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has joined Team India for the World Cup. Rana suffered an injury in the warm-up match against South Africa, ruling him out of the entire tournament. The BCCI has included Mohammed Siraj in the 15-member squad in place of Harshit Rana.

The BCCI issued a press release stating, “Fast bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 due to a knee injury sustained during the warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai on February 4, 2026. The BCCI medical team has declared him unfit to participate in the tournament. The team management wishes him a speedy recovery. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will replace Harshit Rana in the squad.”

Harshit Rana was injured on February 4th. He was subsequently sent to a clinic for evaluation on February 5th. Examination revealed swelling in his knee, resulting in limited movement. Rana also complained of severe pain. A subsequent scan revealed an injury to the lateral meniscus, the outer part of the knee. Following the advice of renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, he has been advised to undergo surgery. The medical team concluded that recovery is unlikely without surgery.

India’s updated squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel (vice-captain), Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Washington Sundar, and Mohammed Siraj.

Three matches on the first day, Team India will face the USA.

The 2026 T20 World Cup begins tomorrow, February 7th. A total of three matches will be played on the first day of the tournament. Team India will also play its first match of the tournament on Saturday, February 7th. India will face the USA on Saturday in the T20 World Cup. However, Harshit Rana’s replacement has not been announced yet.
