BH-Series: In an effort to further expand and improve the scope of the BH Series, the ministry has proposed new rules. Let us tell you that on August 26, 2021, a new registration mark called ‘BH Series’ has been included in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
BH-Series: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a notification GSR 879 (E) to notify amendments to the rules regarding the registration mark of Bharat Series (BH-Series). As part of efforts to further expand and improve the scope of BH Series, the ministry has proposed new rules. Let us tell you that on August 26, 2021, a new registration mark called ‘BH Series’ has been included in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. It has come into force from September 15, 2021.
The BH Series exempts vehicle owners from re-registration of vehicles when they move from one state to another and are transferred there. It has been introduced on a voluntary basis for citizens working in government offices or offices of private organisations in four or more states/union territories. The implementation of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 is within the purview of the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations.
Documents required for BH series registration
Applicants employed in government offices can avail the BH Series facility on the basis of their official ID card. Private sector employees are required to provide a working certificate certifying that their organization has offices in 4 or more states/union territories.
At present, only new vehicles are being registered under the BH Series. However, the Ministry had issued a draft notification G.S.R. 672 (E) on October 04, 2022 to amend the rules governing the Bharat Series registration mark, wherein vehicles with regular registration mark can also be converted to BH Series registration mark. Citizens eligible for BH Series registration mark can avail it by paying tax.
These big changes have happened in BH Series
- Now the owner of the BH Series registration mark vehicles can sell them to any other person eligible or ineligible for the BH Series mark.
- Vehicles which currently have a normal registration mark can also be changed to BH Series registration mark. For this, the required tax will have to be paid so that people become eligible for the BH Series mark.
- For the convenience of people, there is a proposal to amend Rule 48 so that people can get the facility to apply for BH Series at their home or office.
- To further strengthen the prevention of misuse, working certificate will have to be given by the employees of the private sector.
- Apart from their official Identity Card, government employees can now also get BH series registration mark on the basis of their service certificate.
