Bhangel Elevated Flyover: After a long wait of five years, the Bhangel Elevated Road has finally opened to the public. Now, commuters from Surajpur to Noida Sector 51 will no longer have to face traffic jams.
Bhangel Elevated Flyover: You’ve likely traveled from Noida Sector 37 to Greater Noida via Banghel and Surajpur. You’ve likely encountered the traffic jams along this route. This stagnation, which had persisted for more than two decades, has now been resolved. The Noida Development Authority has opened the 4.5-kilometer-long elevated road in Banghel for traffic. Now, access to various Noida sectors from Greater Noida via Surajpur and Banghel will become easier, and the usual morning and evening traffic jams will be alleviated.
Construction of the Banghel elevated road began nearly five years ago. It was completed a few months ago. However, when it wasn’t yet operational, farmers began protesting and pressured the authority. The Noida Authority, under pressure from the protests, finally opened the elevated road to the public on Tuesday. Now, commuters to all sectors of Noida will benefit from it.
The proposal was received 12 years ago.
The proposal to build the Bhangel Elevated Road was received in 2013, and construction began in June 2020. This seven-year delay was due to various approvals, including a lack of funding. The initial deadline for completion was December 2022, but it was extended several times, finally reaching completion in 2025. The timeline for this elevated road, which took five years to complete, had to be changed several times. The company responsible for building the road, Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Limited, completed construction in August and handed it over to the Noida Authority.
The inauguration was postponed several times.
Officials involved in the construction say that the initial plan was to have Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurate the project. The plan was made between September 25th and 29th, during the UP International Trade Show. Later, it was postponed to the first week of October, but that didn’t work. Shopkeepers and residents living nearby have been facing traffic jams for five years since construction began.
Why was the inauguration awaited?
Although the elevated road was completed a few months ago, its official inauguration was awaited. Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lokshakti) leader Chaudhary BC Pradhan said, “We’ve been waiting for this for a long time.” Therefore, we started protesting against the authority, and the barricades were removed and the road was opened to the public. Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M says that the elevated road was opened to the public on Tuesday. The official inauguration will take place later.
It will take only 5 minutes instead of 40.
This elevated road has been stretched to Alaghpur Pump near Noida Sector 51, making it easier to reach the Special Economic Zone. The construction of this six-lane flyover cost ₹608 crore. This will significantly reduce the travel time between Noida and Dadri. Currently it takes 40 minutes to cover this distance, which will later be reduced to just 5 minutes.
Where will traffic jams be alleviated?
This elevated flyover will provide relief from traffic jams in several Noida sectors. First and foremost, it will ease traffic between Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera. This elevated road will also benefit commuters from Salarpur, Chhalera, Barola, Bhangel, Aghapur, and surrounding villages. Furthermore, those traveling from Noida Sectors 40, 41, 43, 47, 48, 82, 88, 101, and 106 to NSEZ, Surajpur, and Dadri will no longer face traffic jams. The authority also plans to connect these areas to this elevated road by constructing loop roads. Furthermore, traffic will also become easier in Sectors 49 to 107 and the Hanuman Statue area. The authority will issue a separate tender for the loop road.
