What are the trade unions demanding?
The trade unions’ immediate demands include the repeal of the four labor codes and rules, the Seeds Bill and the Electricity Amendment Bill, and the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (PEACE) Act. The trade unions are also demanding the reinstatement of MNREGA and the repeal of the Vikassheel Bharat Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Act, 2025.

The nationwide strike could disrupt various services, including banking, transportation, and other services. A protester stated that the banking, insurance, postal, transport, health, coal and non-coal mining, gas pipeline, and power sectors will be affected by the strike.
