The government has taken a big decision regarding senior citizens or their families getting pension. Now people will not have to visit the banks again and again for paperwork for pension.
New Delhi: In view of the difficulties faced by senior citizens or deceased dependent pensioners for getting pension, the government has taken a big decision.
The government has issued instructions to all the banks of the country that in view of the outbreak of Corona epidemic, they have issued an order for speedy distribution of pension.
The government has also asked the banks not to harass the family members of the pensioner for unnecessarily demanding documents in the event of his death. Rather, in view of the problems of the people, the pension should be distributed rapidly.
Submission of death certificate will be enough for deceased dependent pension
The government has issued instructions to all the pension disbursing banks that on the death of a pensioner, his family should not be harassed for pension. The distribution of pension should start in the account of the deceased dependent without delay by submitting the death certificate.
If the pensioner has a joint account with the spouse, then even after submitting a simple letter, the bank should start disbursing pension.
Pension to the pensioner’s family will start only after submitting the death certificate
All the heads of pension disbursing banks have been directed that the pension should be started on production of the death certificate of the deceased pensioner without bothering the family members of the deceased pensioner for pension and where Where the pensioner had a joint account with his/her spouse, submission of a simple letter or application should suffice for initiation of family pension.
Awareness campaign will run regarding family pension
The Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare (DOPW) is going to run an awareness campaign soon to make the officials of the banks aware.
The purpose of this campaign will be that along with the new instructions, how the pensioner’s family of the deceased gets the compassionate pension issue as soon as possible and to make the bank officials aware for this.
Nodal officer information will have to be made available on the bank website
The government has also issued instructions to the banks that all the banks should put the name of a nodal officer and all the relevant information on their website.
So that if the pensioner or the family of the deceased pensioner faces any problem related to pension, then they can contact the nodal officer.
