Earlier, the High Court had quashed the appointments for more than 3,600 posts out of 8,423 court posts. In the latest hearing, the court said in its order, “In the meantime, the teachers who are working in the notified districts will continue to work and they will not be disturbed due to the High Court’s decision. Interim relief issued till the next date of hearing Will remain. ” Although it is an interim relief, thousands of teachers are currently relieved. The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim relief to 3,600 teachers of Jharkhand and allowed them to continue in the service.
Along with this, the apex court has sought reply from the Jharkhand government on the petitions challenging the High Court’s decision to cancel the employment policy-2016. In fact, on September 21, the Jharkhand High Court quashed the state’s “Employment Policy-2016”. Under this policy, 100 percent government jobs of class III and class IV in 13 notified districts of the state were reserved for local residents for 10 years.
The High Court in its decision quashed the recruitment process of 8,423 assistant high school teachers in government schools in 13 notified districts of the state, which began four years ago. These districts include Ranchi, Khunti, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Latehar, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Sahibganj, Dumka, Pakur and Jamtara.
