CBSE has made a major change related to board exams. Hard copies of migration certificates will no longer be available. Students can download them online. Let’s learn about the new rules:
CBSE changes rules: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made several changes related to board exams this year. This includes new rules regarding migration certificates. The board will no longer issue hard copies of migration certificates. This will be mandatory for all affiliated schools. CBSE has also issued a related notice.
The board stated, “CBSE will not compulsorily issue hard copies of migration certificates. If required, students can apply online to obtain them after the results are declared. For Class 12 students, digital copies of migration certificates will be available immediately after the results are declared.” Soft copies of the required documents will be available on DigiLocker.
Why was this step taken?
The University Grants Commission (UGC) issued a notice to all higher education institutions, directing them to accept digital copies of certificates issued by the board for higher education. In light of this, the CBSE decided that hard copies of migration certificates will not be issued to students in grades 10 and 12 in 2025. Students can use digital copies of their migration certificates for admission to other institutions. Fortunately, students will not have to pay any fees for this convenience. The board announced this new rule in September 2024. Students were also given the option to apply by visiting the CBSE’s official website, cbseit.in, if they needed a hard copy. However, hard copies have now been banned. This change will be implemented in the 2026-27 academic year.
