What are Norms for CBSE 2 Board Exams in Class 10: As soon as the draft of two board exams in CBSE class 10 was released, many questions started arising. CBSE Board has answered these questions and cleared the confusion. Know what will be the rule of 10th board exam in 2026 after the draft is implemented?
The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct the 10th board examination twice a year from 2026. A draft has been issued regarding this. After that the board has also clarified some things. CBSE has said that no changes have been made in the subjects and languages that are currently being offered to the students in class 10. In the session 2025-26, all those subjects and languages which are being offered till now will be available.
In fact, the draft policy released by CBSE on Tuesday for two exams in class 10 also includes a draft datesheet. In this, there is no mention of some languages including Punjabi in the Regional and Foreign Language Group. Regarding this, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains alleged that an attempt has been made to remove Punjabi from the subject list in the new policy of two exams. Punjab Education Minister said on X, ‘We strongly object to the new examination pattern plan of CBSE, under which Punjabi language has been removed.’

CBSE draft does not have complete list
After this matter came to light, CBSE’s Controller of Examinations Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj said that ‘No change has been made in the list of subjects and languages. The list of subjects and languages given in the draft policy is only indicative. The subjects that are currently available will remain in the first and second exams of the board in 2026. There is no intention to remove any subject. The list of all languages is not given in the draft policy.’
According to the statement of CBSE, ‘Point 8 of the draft policy gives a list of subject groups and languages for 2026. The languages which are not given in that draft datesheet and are currently offered will also be in the board exams of 2026. These include languages like Punjabi, Russian, Nepali, Sindhi, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, Kannada, Telugu, Arabic, Persian etc. There has been no change in the list of subjects currently proposed.’
The combination is mentioned in the CBSE draft
The draft policy has Language 1 (English), Language 2 (Hindi), Elective Subject 1 (Science), Elective Subject 2 (Mathematics), Elective Subject 3 (Social Science). Students compulsorily take five subjects. Apart from these, there is also a group of Regional and Foreign Languages, in which there is an option of all kinds of languages. After this, there is another group, which has many subjects including Book Keeping and Accountancy, Finance Market, Banking and Insurance, IT, Computer Application.
Students can choose subjects other than the five. Along with this, in other states, if a student chooses a regional language instead of Language 2, then that option is also there. For example, many students choose Punjabi, Telugu, Malayalam, Urdu or Sanskrit.

CBSE rule of two board exams, exam fees will increase
For board exams twice, CBSE students’ exam centers will be same for both rounds of exams.
Complete syllabus will be available in both exams.
Schools will have to send the list of candidates by the end of September.
Sending the list of candidates for the first round of exams will be compulsory.
Names of new candidates cannot be added for the second exam.
Due to board exams twice, the examination fees will also increase.
Sports students will also have to appear in any exam to be held in February or May. Separate exams will not be conducted for them.

CBSE 2 Board Exam: What will the score card be like?
The mark sheet cum passing certificate that the students will get after the second round of examination will contain the marks of the first and second examinations. Along with this, there will also be the score of practical and internal assessment. Grades will also be given. The best score from both the exams will also be shown. Only the best score from both the exams will be considered and on that basis the CBSE board result of the students will be ready.
