CBSE has made Apaar ID mandatory for the 2026 board exams. Now without Apaar ID, students will not be able to appear in the 10th and 12th exams.
CBSE New Notice: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a big decision regarding the 10th and 12th board examinations to be held in the year 2025-26. Now it has been made mandatory for the students to have APAAR ID to appear in the examination. That is, students who do not have this digital ID will not be able to appear in the board examination.
This instruction is included in the guidelines sent by CBSE to the schools, following which it is mandatory to submit the List of Candidates (LOC). Actually, every year schools have to send the data of their students to CBSE before conducting the board examination. On this basis, admit cards are made and the examination process is decided.
When and how will LOC be submitted?
The board has instructed all the schools to submit LOC through online medium from 29 August to 30 September 2025. At the same time, those who submit late from 3 to 11 October 2025 will have to complete this process with late fee. The board has clearly said that the last date for submitting LOC and fee will be the same, that is, it is necessary to submit both the form and fee on time.
Only those students whose names are included in the LOC will be able to appear in the board exams in 2026. Therefore, schools have been asked to ensure that they send the students’ name, date of birth, gender, category and guardian’s name to the board only after carefully checking them.
Why was Apaar ID made mandatory?
This time CBSE has decided to link LOC with Apaar ID. Apaar ID is a 12 digit digital identity launched by the Government of India, in which the complete academic record of the students is recorded digitally.
Under this, the mark sheets, degrees, certificates, scholarships, awards and other academic achievements of the students remain safe. That is, wherever the students study with Apaar ID, their academic history will be available on the same platform.
CBSE believes that this step will not only ensure transparency of identity but will also prevent irregularities related to examination and results in future.
What information will be required?
- Student’s full name
- Parent or guardian’s name
- Date of birth
- APAAR ID
- Correct subject code and combination
- Application category (fresh/improvement/compartment)
