CBSE has issued a notice to schools. There has been some relief regarding the number of students in the classroom. Now the maximum number of students in each section can be 45 instead of 40. However, some conditions are applicable for this.
CBSE Notice: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important notice to all affiliated schools regarding the number of students in each class. CBSE has allowed schools to register 45 students in a section. Earlier this limit was 40. But schools face difficulties in accommodating such cases of direct admission, keeping this in mind the board has taken this decision. Now schools can keep a maximum limit of 45 students in a section from class 1 to 12.
At the time of registration of students for class 9 to 11, the reason for admission in excess of the limit of 40 in each section will have to be recorded on the portal. While taking admission, it will also be necessary to enter it in the admission and withdrawal register. If a school admits more than the prescribed number of 40 or 45 students from class one to eight, then it will have to enter the reason in the admission and withdrawal register. The number of students may increase due to reasons like transfer of parent, improving performance, serious medical condition or hostel shifting. This rule will also be applicable for session 2025-26.
What should be the number of students?
As per the rules, the school will admit a maximum of 45 students. The size of each class should not be less than 500 square feet. Apart from this, all schools have been instructed to ensure availability of one square meter built-up floor area per child.
Schools will have to take care of these things
All schools will have to register the reason for giving admission to more than 40 or maximum 45 students for all classes on the Oasis portal and the exceptional circumstances. No school will admit more than 45 students per area under any circumstances. The board can also take strict action if the rules are violated. Apart from this, all schools have been advised to try to increase their physical infrastructure. Build more classrooms.

CBSE changes rules to ensure safety of students in schools
Rules have also been changed regarding safety in schools. The board had issued a notice related to this on July 21. Under the new rules, regular monitoring and maintenance of CCTV cameras in schools will now be necessary. CCTV cameras will be installed at various centers of the school council, they will also be monitored. Instructions have been given to install high resolution CCTV cameras with audio visual facility in exit gates, lobby, entrance, corridor, stairs, all classrooms, laboratories, library, canteen, store room and playground. Apart from this, there should also be a device with the capacity to keep 15 days of footage. So that the officials can check it if needed. However, this rule will not apply to toilets and washrooms.
